Data Visualization

Here are some great Data Visualization links for you to check out, it's worth the time:

Newsmap shows the changing landscape of the Google News news aggregator. The size of data blocks represent their popularity at the moment.
Digg Stack visualizes the way Digg stories stack as users digg them. The more diggs a story gets, the larger is the stack.
Time Magazine lets you "take a look at America by the numbers" (population statistics)
We Feel Fine is a very cute application that shows human feelings, calculated from a large number of weblogs.
Universe DayLife displays events, connections and news.
Fidg’t Visualizer allows you to play around with your network. You interface with the Visualizer through Flickr and LastFM tags, using any tag to create a Magnet.
Voyage is an RSS-feader which displays the latest news in the “gravity area”.
walk2web makes cool graphs of incoming and outgoing links; it also has audio reading your blog title.

Music Related:

This post took off from a roughly related talk I had with tyxod about Last.fm and how much he liked it.

Last.fm. Downloading the application gives you some cool functions. Use it as a fire and forget
dj for your parties.
Burst Labs suggests connected items to your queries in a bubble.
Musiclens suggests music responding to your mood as a diagram.
Musicmap creates an expandable web with interconnections of your search.
Musicovery has a great interface for choosing your music taste and lets you listen and browse through similar songs.

1453-1821 video game

Video Editing

I found this very useful tool the other day that really gave me a big help in editing some old video files. Free Video Dub deletes parts from video files without re-encoding, which sums up to spending only 5 minutes to segment a 1Gb file in many parts without loosing original quality.

Free Studio Manager includes many more functions which are optional to download (free).

LyricsFinder strikes back, strikes hard.

Copying from Rockordie:

LyricsFinder11 v1.1.zip (2.67MB)
LyricsFinder11 v1.1.rar (2.67MB)"
I kind of hate itunes

Leonard Cohen

The upcoming (after 12 years) big tour by Leonard Cohen has a big itinerary with the last concert taking place in Greece.
29-Jul-08 Athens Lykabettus Theatre
-
I loved you in the morning, our kisses deep and warm,
your hair upon the pillow like a sleepy golden storm,
yes, many loved before us, I know that we are not new,
in city and in forest they smiled like me and you,
but now it's come to distances and both of us must try,
your eyes are soft with sorrow,
Hey, that's no way to say goodbye.
I'm not looking for another as I wander in my time,
walk me to the corner, our steps will always rhyme
you know my love goes with you as your love stays with me,
it's just the way it changes, like the shoreline and the sea,
but let's not talk of love or chains and things we can't untie,
your eyes are soft with sorrow,
Hey, that's no way to say goodbye.

I loved you in the morning, our kisses deep and warm,
your hair upon the pillow like a sleepy golden storm,
yes many loved before us, I know that we are not new,
in city and in forest they smiled like me and you,
but let's not talk of love or chains and things we can't untie,
your eyes are soft with sorrow,
Hey, that's no way to say goodbye.

Naked News In Greek - Confirm Birthdate

By The Revolting Cocks

She sits alone, waiting for suggestions. He so nervous, avoiding all the questions. His lips are dry, her heart's gently pounding, don't ya just know exactly what they're thinking?

If you want my body, and you think I'm sexy, c'mon sugar let me know! If you really need me, just reach out and touch me, c'mon honey tell me so!

He's acting shy, lookin for an answer, c'mon honey, let's spend the night together. Now hold on a minute, before we go much further, give me a buck, so I can buy a rubber.

They catch a cab to his high-rise apartment, at last he could tell her exactly what his means.

If you want my body, and you think I'm sexy, c'mon honey tell me so!
If you really need me, just reach out and touch me, c'mon sugar let me
know! Woof woof!

His heart's beating like a drum, cuz at last he's got this girl home. Ohhh... Relax baby, now we're all alone.

They wake at dawn, while all the birds are singin. Two total strangers, but that ain't what they're thinking. Outside it's cold, it's misty and it's rainy, they've got each other, neither one's complaining.

He says I'm sorry but I'm out of KY jelly. Never mind sugar, we can catch the early movie.

If you want my body, and you think I'm sexy, c'mon sugar let me know! If you really need me, just reach out and touch me, c'mon honey tell me so!

Happy to have, not to have not

This is not a love song
Happy to have, not to have not, Big business is very wise, I'm crossing over into, E-enter-prize

Love song, Love song, Love song, Love song
I'm going over to the other side, I'm happy to have not to have not, Big business is very wise, I'm inside free enterprise
I'm adaptable, I'm adaptable
I'm adaptable and I like my new role, I'm getting better and better, And I have a new goal, I'm changing my ways where money applies
This is not a love song, This is not a love song, This is not a love song, This is not a love song, This is not a love song
Now are you ready to grab the candle, That tunnel vision - not television, Behind the curtain - out of the cupboard, You take the first train - into the big world, Now will I find you - now will you be there
Not a love song (echo), Not a love song, Not a love song ...

So what the FUCK

So what the FUCK is this UK, gunnin' with this US of A in Iraq and Iran and in Afganistan. Does not a day go by when not the Israeli Air Force fail to drops it's bombs from the sky? How many mothers to cry? How many sons have to die? How many missions left to fly over Palistine?

'Cause as a matter of facts it's a pact, it's an act, these are illegal attacks so bring the soldies back. These are illegal attacks, it's contracts for contacts, I'm singing concrete facts so bring the soldiers back.

What mean ya that you beat my people, what mean ya that you beat my people and grind the faces of the poor.

So tell me just how come were the Taliban sat burning incense in Texas roaming round in a Lexus sittin' on six billion oils drums, down with the Dow Jones, up on the Nasdaq pushed into the war zones

It's a commercial crusade, 'cause all the oil men get paid but only so many soldiers come home. It's a commando crusade a military charade and only so many soldiers come home.

What mean ya that you beat my people what mean ya that you beat my people and grind the faces of the poor.

Through all the blood and sweat nobody can forget it ain't the size of the dog in the fight it's the size of the fight in the dog on the day or the night, there's no time to reflect on the threat, the situation, the bark nor the bite.

These are commercial crusades 'cause all the oli men get paid these are commando crusades commando tactical rape and from the streets of New York and Baghdad to Tahran and Tel Aviv bring forth the prophets of the Lord from dirty bastards fillin' pockets with the profits of greed. These are commercial crusades. Commando tactical raids. Playin' military charades to get paid.

And who got the devils? And who got the Lords? Build yourself a mountain drink up in the fountain. Soldiers come home.
